Hard to do the good thing

I went to church on Friday and there was a post in the bulletin to volunteer at the local Hospital. I called and there was no one available so I left a message. When they returned my call it was during work hours. They left a message stating that they were looking for day time, long term committed individuals. THEN, assuming I was much younger, they said they were not looking for any more part-time college student volunteers. This really turned me off. Why is it so hard to be nice and give of my time?

It reminds me of the time my parents tried to adopt a blind puppy. They were denied because they already had pets. WHAT? Is it becoming harder to adopt a puppy then a child these days?

I understand charity workers have to be critical of who they let in their workplace, but I don't think they should become too judgemental about the caretakers of society. Otherwise, they will be left out in the cold and wonder why no one is volunteering any more to help. Peace out.
